Privacy policy
Summary
Recapped analyses your photos on your iPhone and sends nothing about them to us. There are no accounts, no ads, no tracking and no data sold. This policy applies to Recapped, Door a Day and Moments Left. Effective October 17, 2026.
What stays on your iPhone
Recapped reads your photo library only after you allow access. Every photo is analysed on the iPhone with Apple's on-device frameworks (Vision). Photos, faces, locations and results are never uploaded to us. Faces are grouped on the phone, and a person has a name only if you type one. The analysis cache stays on the device and is deleted with the app. Cards and videos are saved to your Photos or shared only when you tap Save or Share.
Network use
Recapped makes only these network requests, all to Apple:
- Apple Maps, to draw the map snapshot.
- Apple's reverse geocoding of place-cluster centres, to get approximate place names. These coordinates are sent to Apple, not to us.
- The App Store, for the purchase.
The app does not send analytics. Events are only logged on the device.
Crossed Paths links
When you choose to send a Crossed Paths link to a friend, the link itself carries a compact code of approximate places and days (towns of about 1 km and the days photos were taken) and the first name you chose to add. Your friend's phone decodes it on their device. Our website only serves a static page and stores nothing. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request logs such as the IP address for security. Whoever you send the link to, and any service that carries your message, can see the link.
Notifications
Reminders are optional local notifications scheduled on your phone. They do not involve any server of ours.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details or your Apple ID. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles them.
This website
The website is static and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It uses no cookies and no analytics scripts. Cloudflare processes standard request logs for security and delivery.
Door a Day
Calendar content you create is stored in Apple iCloud (CloudKit) under a random, unguessable identifier so that the recipient can open it. Media is encrypted on your device with a key that lives only in the link you share; we cannot read it. We do not collect names, emails or contacts.
Moments Left
Moments Left is fully on device, like Recapped. The app makes no network requests except Apple's own services.
Analytics and tracking
The apps do not send analytics, use no advertising identifier and do not track you across apps or sites. We do not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track.
Children
The apps are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. Because photo analysis stays on the device, we do not receive any.
Your choices and deletion
You can remove Recapped's access to your photos at any time in Settings, then Recapped, then Photos. Deleting the app deletes its analysis cache and local data. Cards you saved to Photos stay there until you delete them. Because we do not hold your photos or an account for you, there is nothing on our side to delete. For Door a Day calendars stored in iCloud, write to us and we will remove the calendar.
